The Tempsford Show is over for another year and was again a great success. The weather was decent, if a little cool at times, but this didn't put people off from attending. The Fun Dog Show, which was a new event for this year, was very well attended and was enjoyed by all participants.
The main show classes in the Main Hall brought in some excellent entries. It was particularly pleasing to see so many more entries in the fruit and vegetable classes than last year. Of course, last years' produce was affected by the very hot, dry summer. Many thanks to all the judges who gave their time to judge the exhibits. The winners of the Special Awards and each of the classes are show below.
The tea room was very busy all afternoon and we must thank Sharon and Anne for working so hard under pressure to keep the customers supplied with tea and cakes. Thank you also to Betty, Sue and others who coped with all the washing up. The special afternoon tea marquee was completely full with Shirley and Maureen doing a sterling job serving their tea, sandwiches and cakes.
The usual auction of produce was held at the end of the show with Jim Donnelly doing a fantastic job as auctioneer. There was some very competitive bidding and a significant sum was raised in aid of Sue Ryder.
Thanks go to Geoff Phipps and his team (Sharon, Shirley, Maureen, Anne and Doreen) for their hard work in organising the Show. They were aided and abetted by members of the Hall Committee, Museum Committee and other villagers who turned out to set up, man and clear up the Show. We could not have managed without them.
We must also thank all those who sponsored the show classes, those who donated money and raffle prizes and our commercial sponsors Kier, The Wheatsheaf, The Rockery Centre, The Barbecue Centre, The Bedfordshire Car & Caravan Centre, Flamingo, LSK Toilet Hire and last but no means least, Knotts Farm Shop.
We look forward to seeing you again next year.
